Permit
Access to the Convenience Center is permitted only to residents of Upper Pittsgrove Township for disposal of normal household trash and recyclables. A green Convenience Center Decal must be placed on the rear-view mirror or front bumper of all vehicles using the site. Decals are available at the Municipal Building for $1.00. Please bring a copy of the vehicle registration.
Transporting Waste
Please use closed bags and containers when transporting trash to the Convenience Center. If you have an open-bed truck or trailer, a tarp is required. Tarps may be available for FREE at the Convenience Center.
Recycling Guidelines
Recyclables must be separated from normal household trash and placed in the appropriate bins at the Convenience Center. Our goal is to recycle 65% of all waste. Convenience Center employees may randomly slice trash bags to ensure compliance of all households. Businesses are required to recycle and must turn in copies of recycling weight slips to the township quarterly.
Businesses
The Convenience Center will accept clean and dry recyclables from Township businesses; however, regular trash is not accepted. Township businesses are required to submit the annual recycling Tonnage Report to the Recycling Coordinator (deputyclerk@upperpittsgrovenj.org) to report tonnage of all materials not recycled at the Convenience Center.
Salem County Improvement Authority (SCIA)
The Salem County Improvement Authority Solid Waste Division is an alternative site for residents to dispose of materials. They are located outside of Alloway off of Route 540 at 32 McKillip Road. Hours for county residents are 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday. Visit their website (https://scianj.com) for disposal fees and more information.
